Day after Thanksgiving Blogging, thanks very much.

Clearly, my motivation for blogging has waned a bit since October. I have been busy, but also distracted.

This year has been far easier than last. I have some idea about what the kids need to learn anyway, if not always the best way to for them to learn it. The kids have been great as well, though with so much more to lose (graduation with their class, graduation at all, college, a decent job, etc.), many of them seem no more motivated to turn in their work. About 20 of my kids were flunking as of last weeks mid quarter progress reports. Last week I was having a bit of a crisis of faith. Maybe, I thought, I was the problem and the kids ere just not learning the way I was trying to teach. Upon closer examination, however, it's pretty obvious that they'd all be doing fine if they'd just turn in their work. That isn't to say I'm some kind of master of this though. I stil have a lot to learn.

I mentioned distracted. Finally, a change in working hours is paying some benifits in my social life. Having my evenings and weekends free has allowed me to really enjoy some great fun with my friends.

About mid October, I bought a new mountainbike. my experience at the Road Apple Rally was great this year, except for some mechanical issues and I thought it was about time. After some searching and consideration of several different bikes, I decided on a Yeti ASR 575. Although I had long suspected that full suspension technology had finally caught up with the hype, I had no idea. I have completely fallen back in love with the sport. Bruce, Mark and I along with Lapell and Rod Bush ahve been dragging ourselves up to Cedro every weekend for the last month and a half. Although I wouldn't say I'm in great shape, after two hours of riding the never ending network of great trails in that area the only thing that's really hurting me is my face (from smiling too much).
